| Resumo | Pantanal is one of the largest plains of sedimentation and flooding in the world, and its principal characteristic is a remarkable intra and interannual dynamic due to the floods that occur throughout the year, causing changes in vegetation cover and hence in the primary productivity, which is characterized by the carbon sequestration from the atmosphere through the vegetation. Therefore, the objective of this study is to examine the relationship between primary productivity and the wetlands magnitude in the biome from 2000 to 2009 to identify the areas where there is the greatest spatial variability of primary productivity and to infer the causes of these oscillations in different vegetation types. It was noticed that the areas that have the highest variability are composed by Forest Formations and Woody Savanna, coinciding with the areas that have a large tendency to increase primary productivity. In this context, Woody Savanna and Forest Formations were the classes that most contributed to the values of primary productivity in the last 10 years and consequently, the one that most contributed to carbon sequestration. Therefore, studies like this that aim to identify and quantify the relationship of primary productivity in the vegetation dynamics are of fundamental importance in the analysis of the carbon sequestration in the biome analyzed and, consequently, in the identification of the impacts arising from the changes in land use and land cover. |
